Forecast: Voice input is the end for FMCG brands

TLDR: It's a thing with forecasts. They are fantastic when they predict the results of almost every digital campaign with pinpoint accuracy. They are less beautiful when the predicted itself is unattractive. Like, for example, the end of big consumer brands through Alexa, Siri & Co. Do marketers need to imagine that? Yes. There are early signs.

Unpalatable prediction 1: Voice kills CPG - will it really happen?

Scott Galloway, who calls himself a "clinical marketing consultant," spent a year analyzing U.S. searches for specific product categories. Anyone who searched for detergents, cleaning agents, etc., did they also mention the names of product brands?

The result: Yes. But the search entries WITHOUT the mention of product brands grow significantly faster, and that is due to the growing share of voice entries in Google, Alexa & co.

Galloway's prediction: search assignees are growing exponentially, with the familiar steep curves of the digital oligopoly GAFA (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple).

At the same speed, i.e. in about 5 years, the "Consumer Packaged Goods" (CPG) of Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Beiersdorf, Henkel etc. will have disappeared from people's minds. Just like that.

Consumer marketers with strong nerves and English skills can watch Scott's entire horror show here.
The ultimate creepiness is provided by the appearance of "Alexa" (played by Alexa) as a category manager.

Unpalatable forecast 2: Trump preview from 2015 (!) - unfortunately all bull's-eyes

Speaking of horror shows. We didn't foresee that Oli Welke's "Heute-Show" would belong to the data science guild. That was a mistake, we're sorry. Back in 2015, the show predicted yesterday's withdrawal (sic!) of a certain Donald T. from the climate agreement. Chapeau!

And this is only one of at least 6 accurate predictions in an absolutely terrific clip.
