ExcellenceCircle #35 - Internal controversies - at what point does Corp Comm react? And if so: how?

The #ExcellenceForum invites all communicators to the #WebCircle on April 7, 15:00.

For "the internal", the promotion of "Speak-up Culture" is the order of the day.
Employees should be able to say what they think and show what they stand for. But what happens when employees stir up controversy and flood the internal comment columns? What if the tone gets rough, political or polarizing debates get out of hand?
Is netiquette enough to moderate this? Or do we have to block the comment function as a matter of principle, as two corporations are said to have done recently? Putin war, sanctions, Covid, diversity... there are many topics that polarize and can cause communication to intervene.

How are corp comms dealing with this? Jens Tangemann, Head of Channel Management at Deutsche Bank, is currently asking himself the same question - and he would like answers from other companies. Which companies have red lines and how are they defined? Who intervenes and with what measures? Do they post something? Do they go into a 1:1 conversation? Do they block?

The Excellence Forum looks forward to sharing diverse practical experiences!
